2021 Ford Edge Towing Capacity

When drivers come to see us at Richmond Ford Lincoln to get a closer look at the Ford Edge, they usually have a few questions that they need answered. One of the most common questions we get asked is about the 2021 Ford Edge towing capacity.

We're here today to provide our friends and neighbors throughout Richmond, Mechanicsville, and Ashland, VA, with the necessary information to help them see if the Ford Edge has what it takes.

How Much Can the 2021 Ford Edge Tow?

  • When equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package, the Ford Edge has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
  • It can reach this maximum towing capacity with either the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine or the 2.7L V6 engine.

You can opt for the Class II Trailer Tow Package on a few different trim levels, including the SEL and Titanium.

If you know you're going to be doing regular towing, and you want the most performance and capability possible, consider the Ford Edge ST trim.

In addition to having the Class II Trailer Tow Package standard, the ST comes with a lengthy list of performance enhancements. A few ST-specific features include front and rear vented disc brakes, unique front rotors, a brushless radiator cooling fan, performance brake pads, and vented brake shields.

2021 Ford Edge Specs

Ford wanted to develop an SUV that was capable and also satisfied those who like to drive. So, the Edge comes standard with an impressive engine and has a larger, available motor for those seeking on-road thrills.

The base twin-Scroll 2.0L EcoBoost® can deliver an impressive 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. You can also expect good fuel economy with this engine, as it registers an EPA-estimated 21 city/29 highway MPG.

The highest output comes from the 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 twin-turbocharged engine, which yields 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. If you plan on towing with your Ford Edge, you're better off opting for an engine with higher torque to add to the vehicle's towing abilities.

Ford Edge Interior Space and Cargo

When it comes to cabin space, the 2021 Edge offers an ample 113.9 cubic feet, which can easily accommodate the five passengers on board.

When it comes to the vehicle's actual cargo space, there's 39.2 cubic feet behind the second row. However, if you choose to fold the second row down, you can effectively boost your cargo space to 73.4 cubic feet, nearly doubling the original cargo capacity offered by the vehicle.
